- I've been fascinated by cephalopods for a long time 🐙. Reading that scientists in 2009 discovered that octopus, previously believed to be a solitary animal, are living in "cities" in the sea, with one of them called Octopolis, has not dampened my fascination. While gathered in Octopolis, the octopus are seen mating, fighting, and hurling objects at each other. Guess the odd one out.
- I didn't know computer-aided match-making was already creating couples in the 50s and 60s. Excellent long read on the topic at about the work done by Joan Ball, as she build the first computerised match making service. Think Tinder for the punch card generation.
- "If we design space for conflict, we will have conflict". An observation on hostile architecture, brought on by an appalled citizen raging about spikes put on a tree branch, to keep pigeons from sitting in the tree
- Peter Sunde's talk at Brain Bar Budapest lament's that we've given up as consumers and are blindly centralising the web in the silos of the big five. His call to arms is because he's tired of hearing people talking about what might happen in the future, while the full scale of what's happening, can be observed right now.
